Is stress keeping you up at night? Are your midnight hours plagued by worry over work and finances?
Perhaps you’re experiencing end of year stress about what you have and haven’t accomplished.
If so, you’re not alone. This is part of what makes the holiday season extra difficult: we’ve got the extra spending, eating, and visiting relatives.
But if the underlying stress is about issues that you’ve been avoiding, issues that really do need to be addressed, here’s what I recommend:
For this week:
1. Be honest with yourself and name whatever primary issue you’ve been avoiding. Hint: it’s often the number one thing keeping you up at night. Write it down.
2. Identify 3 small but strategic steps you can take THIS week to address the issue. Write these down. Think small, specific and manageable, such as sending out three emails to re-connect with colleagues or mentors so you can set up meetings with them to get feedback on the issue.
3. Do the three things this week. Nothing beats taking effective action (and you’ll sleep better, too!)
