MONDAY BYTES – November 28, 2011

Low self-esteem can range from sporadic feelings of inadequacy to full-blown immobilization. The issue can impact work on promotional materials, goal setting, networking, as well as interviews, auditions, recording sessions, and performances.
Unconscious old tapes, our “self-talk” may be telling us we’re not worthy: that we don’t deserve to succeed.
When you consider taking on a new challenge, do you catch yourself thinking: “This is impossible,” or “I could never do that,” or “I’m a loser.”
What would it take to convert these old tapes to something positive? Maybe simply “I’m working hard and I’m on track” or “I’m scared but think I can do this anyway.”
The first step to success is believing that you CAN do it. Change your self-talk and you can change your outcome.
Don’t get me wrong: positive affirmations aren’t all that’s needed. There’s the hard work, good planning, and it can also help to partner with a mentor or coach, someone to help you overcome whatever obstacles are blocking your path.
For this week: assess your self-talk and practice using positive messaging to help with your motivation!
As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback: what have you found helpful in improving your self-talk?
