Making Meaning in the Aftermath

MONDAY BYTES – April 22, 2013

Like many other Bostonians, I’m still trying to fathom last week’s events, and resist the temptation to become cynical and fearful.

In the aftermath of any disaster—natural or otherwise—we have a choice.

Maybe it’s the choice we’ve always had but in these moments it becomes clear. Our response is a choice—we choose our own reality—what kind of world we inhabit and who we are in relation to it.

I’m sure everyone has his or her own favorite response from last week, but I especially loved being reminded of Mr. Rogers’ message of looking for the helpers (a way of seeing the good in the world), and Stephen Colbert’s answer to who we are as people.

Questions for the week: Who are YOU deciding to be in the aftermath? And what’s the world like for you?

Reminder of tonight’s Polyphonic.org FREE WEBINAR at 8 pm. I’ll be giving tips and strategies on the topic of branding. You can still sign up—looking forward to getting your questions and comments!
