MONDAY BYTES – February 27, 2012

Maybe you’ve heard of the innovation powerhouse, the celebrated design company Ideo.
I missed this program when it came out originally aired as an ABC news segment but discovered it this week on YouTube: watch this fascinating view inside the celebrated design firm Ideo as they take on a design challenge (it’s in three short 7 minute segments): Inside Ideo pt 1, here is pt. 2, and the final part 3.
It’s a great lesson in how innovation can be facilitated, how groups can handle creative problem solving, and how innovation can be promoted. You can apply this approach to building a better mousetrap, shopping cart, or the future of music.
What would happen if you applied these strategies in your lessons, in your rehearsals, in your classroom? What if a group of musicians got together and worked on re-designing a traditional concert, a festival, or a curriculum?
Challenge for the week: test drive design thinking and the “deep dive.” Try using it in your next meeting, rehearsal, or brainstorming session.
As always, I’m interested in your feedback . . . and I’d love to hear what you come up with!
Curious about working with me? Details are HERE.
