Does your Bio make the grade?
A bio should convey a vibrant, distinct impression of a musician’s artistic mission and focus. It should communicate who you really are and what your musical personality is like.
For tips on writing or revising your bio, I have a new how-to video to help. it’s a quick 5 minute clip you can watch here.
Consider your current bio & try the litmus test:
1. Does your bio convey what is distinctive and interesting about you both as an artist and person?
2. Does your bio indicate your musical perspective, noteworthy repertoire, and what fascinates you as an artist?
3. Would a non-musician reading about you for the first time on your online bio feel compelled to click “play” and hear a sound sample?
Please leave comments (and any examples you find of best, worst, or most fun bios)! And there are more bio tips, instructions, and examples in my book, Beyond Talent.
Hope this helps!
